Marjorie J. Thom, 74, died Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Riverview Manor, Flandreau. She was born December 29, 1935 in Flandreau, SD to William and Martha (Johnson) Thom. She graduated from Flandreau High School in 1953 and from Nettleton Commercial College in 1955. She was employed at SDSU in Brookings for 43 years, retiring in 1998. Marjorie enjoyed bowling and was inducted into the Brookings Bowling Hall of Fame and was honored for her participation in 25 consecutive national tournaments. She loved golfing and had played on several courses throughout the United States. The highlight of her life was going on a golf tour to Scotland in 1999 which included St. Andrews and sometime in 1999 visiting the birthplace of her father. She was an avid Twins fan and also enjoyed hiking, skiing, photography and genealogy. Marjorie moved to Flandreau in 2004.
Marjorie is survived by one brother, Francis W. (Jean) Thom, Centerville, IA; two sisters, Barbara Mohror, Flandreau and Mary Dean Janklow, Sioux Falls; seven nieces and nephews: Raymond, Deborah, Russell, Pamela, Shonna, Curtis and Cheryl and great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 12, 2009 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau with burial in Union Cemetery.
