Marilyn K. Herrick, 73, of Brookings, SD, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016 at United Living Community, Brookings. She was born January 30, 1943 at Flandreau, SD to Carlton and Minnie (Hopkins) Herrick. As a young girl, they moved to Elkton, SD where she attended a Brookings County country school and Marilyn graduated from Elkton High School in 1961. Then she moved to Brookings and worked at Spies Grocery Store for many years before working at SuperValu and then Econofoods. Marilyn worked at Daktronics for sixteen years before retiring. She worked part-time at Hy-Vee until August of 2016. Marilyn liked to read, take walks, go out to breakfast with her friends, help other people, and she enjoyed being with her family and extended family.

Marilyn is survived by six siblings, Edward Herrick, Watertown, SD; Ronald (special friend Susan) Herrick, Aurora, SD; Kathy Herrick, Flandreau, SD; Barbara (Alvin) Anderson, Flandreau; Roger (Nancy) Herrick, Bushnell, SD; Allen (Peggy) Herrick, Brookings; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Lauren, Maynard and Vince, and her sister Sharon.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral chapel prior to the service.
