Obituary

Marianne Jewett, 64, Irvine, CA, died Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Hoag Hospital, Newport Beach, CA. Marianne was born to William and Arlene (Halseth) Duncan on November 2, 1950 in Flandreau, SD. Marianne was raised in Flandreau and graduated from Flandreau High School in 1969. She went on to receive an Associate's Degree from South Dakota State University. Marianne married her high school sweetheart, Randy Jewett, on August 21, 1971 in Flandreau. Marianne and Randy made their first home in Brookings, SD. Their first daughter, Kara, was born in 1974 in Sioux Falls, SD. Later that year after college graduation, they moved to Lawrenceville, IL where their son, Michael, was born in 1977. In 1979 they moved to Casper, WY where their second daughter, Molly, was born in 1982. Later in 1982 they moved themselves and their three children to Garden Grove, CA. After moving to Garden Grove, Marianne worked at a local elementary school as a teacher's aide until she retired in 1998. Marianne was very active with her children as a soccer mom, band uniform mom, UCLA mom, Sunday school teacher and youth counselor. She loved to travel and spend time with her family (especially those grandkids) and friends.

Marianne is survived by her husband, Randy Jewett, Irvine, CA, three children, Kara (Matthew) Buttacavoli, Portola Hills, CA, Michael (Megan) Jewett, Evanston, IL, and Molly (fiancé Leif Lovegren) Jewett, Tustin, CA, five grandchildren, Isabella, Angelina, Christopher, Colin, and Evelyn, three sisters, Wilma (Byron) Harvison, Franklin, TN, Jean (Howard) Stimson, Omaha, NE, and Donna (Michael) Pawloski, Omaha, NE and many nieces and nephews. Marianne was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James and Roger.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau, SD with burial in Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
