God called Marguerite May (Reifers) Bartscher to her eternal home Sunday, May 5, 2019 at the United Living Community, Brookings, SD. Marguerite was born May 23, 1932 to August and Margaret (Daggett) Reifers. She was born and raised in the Spencer-Salem area on a farm, the youngest of nine siblings. Marguerite graduated from the eighth grade at St. Peters Catholic School and then Spencer High School. She married William "Bill" Bartscher in the Sacrament of Marriage at Christ the King Catholic Church in Sioux Falls, SD, March 27, 1950. God blessed them with 10 children while living in Harrisburg, SD. In 1988, semi-retired, they moved to Lake Madison until Bill went to his eternal home in 1992. Marguerite moved to Brookings until her passing. She was very involved with her Catholic faith. Marguerite was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church both in Madison and Brookings. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and was honored with Catholic Daughter of the Year! Marguerite was an Advocate Pro-Lifer, attended Cursillo retreats, Ultreya rosary groups and Bible Study Adoration.

Marguerite is survived by 10 children, Linda Brown, Nancy (Bill) Towns, Leon (Nancy May) Bartscher and Crystal Beumer, all of Sioux Falls; Susan (Mike) Dorn, Brookings; Becky (Dave) Ranschau, Ellsworth, MN; Theresa (Brian) Ayotte, Harrisburg, SD; Tim Bartscher, Groton, SD; Gail (Dan) Luze, Elkton, SD; Brian (Janet) Bartscher, Tea, SD; 28 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Saturday, May 11, 2019 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Brookings, with burial in Holy Three Kings Catholic Cemetery, Epiphany, SD. Visitation will be 5:00 – 6:30 pm Friday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with a 6:30 pm scripture service followed by a Catholic Daughter rosary.
