Margaret Eva Gilmore, 105, died Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Riverview Manor, Flandreau. Margaret was born January 29, 1905 at Albert, IA to Edward C. and Clara S. (Vial) Brinkley. She grew up in Manchester, SD and graduated from Manchester High School. Eva was married to Herbert E. Gilmore on September 25, 1923 at Mitchell, SD. They farmed in the DeSmet area until 1943 when they moved to a farm near Dell Rapids. IN 1946 they came to the Flandreau area where they farmed north of Flandreau until moving into town in 1972. They made their home in town with the exception of the winter months which were spent in Arizona. Herbert preceded her in death on August 31, 1979. Eva was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Ladies Aid, Daughters of Union Veteran's of the Civil War (DUV) and the Rebekah Lodge which she held various offices.

Eva is survived by 2 daughters, Violet (Lowell) Reiners, Apache Junction, AZ, Caroline (Charles) Johnson, Dell Rapids; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Wallace Brinkley, Helena, MT and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; son, Edward; a grandson, Mark Larscheid; a granddaughter, Jennifer Gilmore; her parents and 2 sisters, Leona Kasperson and Ora Moore.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Second Presbyterian Church, Flandreau with burial at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
