Mae F. Huebner, 88, died Thurday, May 15, 2008 in Florida. Mae was born in Colman, SD to Hans and Inga (Johanson) Lellelid on January 3, 1920. Mae grew up in Colman and after graduating from Colman High School she worked in the Colman Bank. She was married on April 11, 1942 in Colman to Earl Huebner and then moved with him to California and then to Pine Castle Army Base, Orlando, FL. She served as a bookkeeper for his farm machinery business until 1963. Then they lived in Okeechobee, FL, Tampa, FL, Anthony, FL, then in Okalawaha, FL. While in Florida she worked at a Facility for Boys and the Florida Health Dept. In 1985 they retired to Gainesville, MO until Earl got sick and they moved to Bushnell, SD to be near their son, David. Earl died on September 10, 1994. Mae moved back to Orlando to live with her daughter, Karen, until she moved into an assisted living center in Ocoee, FL. She was a member of the Sons of Norway, a Brookings County Extension Club, and the VFW Auxiliary. She attended bible study classes regularly, attended Grace Lutheran Church, Bruce, and was a dedicated Christian. Mae enjoyed helping others, quilting, and traveling with her husband and with the First National Bank First Class Club.
Mae is survived by 3 children: David (Julie) Huebner, Bushnell; Kent (Melinda) Huebner, Hudson, NH; and Karen Brown, Orlando, FL; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 4 brothers, Leo, Harold, Clarence, and Inar and 2 sisters, Marguerite and JoAnn.
Services will be Tuesday at 11:00 am at the United Church of Christ, Brookings, with burial in the Colman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Monday at the United Church of Christ.
