Lynette Hersrud, 76, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Brookings Health System, Brookings, SD. Lynette was born October 8, 1940 in Freemont Township to Lynn and Vivian (Keith) Erickson. Lynette attended Galla Country School near her family farm. When the school closed, she attended and graduated from Egan Public School. In high school, she met her lifelong sweetheart, Roger, whom she married on February 14, 1958. While raising five children, Lynette was active in farming and the livestock operation. She took great pride in managing the sheep herd and was awarded Master Sheep Producer of SD. In addition, she was instrumental in maintaining the farm finances as well as working side-by-side with Roger from planting through harvesting. Spending time with family and friends was Lynette's greatest joy. The farm was the center point for family gatherings, creating many cherished memories.

Grateful for sharing her life are her five children, Rodney (Trudie) Hersrud, Renae (Jim) Wingert, Lori Hersrud (Lou Beal), Lonna (Monte) Albertson, Darla (Jeff) Lentsch, nine grandchildren and their spouses, Nick Hersrud, Sarah (Wingert) and Charles Jones, Ethan Wingert, Jason and Kaycee Albertson, Chad and Emily Albertson, Brian Albertson, Kyle and Laura Lentsch, Kristin (Lentsch) and Barret Trygstad, Korey Lentsch, five great-grandchildren, Jadah and Kadah Jones, Makenna Albertson, Alaina and Cameron Lentsch, sisters Joyce Schweitzer and Bonnie Wattnem. She was preceded in death by her husband Roger, parents, infant daughter Karlene and grandson Ethan.


The family invites you to visitation at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, from 5 – 8 pm Tuesday, November 15, 2016. A private family service will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Memorials may be directed to the Oslo Cemetery, Trent, SD.
