Lorraine M. Schroeder, age 98, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Riverview Health Services, Flandreau. Lorraine Mildred was born June 19, 1917 at the hospital in Flandreau, SD, to William and Sophie (Oldenburg) Kiecksee. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ward, SD. Lorraine attended Keith School District #52 through the 8th grade. She attended Flandreau High School and graduated in 1935. She assisted her parents at home and worked for many families in the area. Lorraine and Harold Schroeder were married May 25, 1947 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ward. They made their home in Lake Benton, MN, until May 1951 when they moved to Ward. They built and owned Schroeder's Sales and Service until 1992 when they retired and moved to Lake Benton. Her husband preceded her in death on December 24, 1996. Lorraine was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, a Sunday School teacher for over twenty years, and a 4-H Leader in Lincoln and Moody Counties for a time.

Lorraine is survived by her sons, John (Celia), Sturgis, SD, Marlin (Lois), Deerfield, MO, Donald (Bobbi), Fort Scott, KS, grandchildren, Margaret (Terry) Johnson, Heidi Schroeder, Peggy Schroeder, Justin Schroeder and Kelsey Schroeder, great-grandson Garret Johnson, brothers, Wilmer (Genevieve) Kiecksee, Elmer (Vivian) Kiecksee, friend (special daughter) Kathy Baker, sister-in-law Arlene Kiecksee, and many nieces and nephews. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Lenora Sundermeyer, and brother Adelbert Kiecksee.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ward, SD with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 5 -7 pm Tuesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
