Lois E. Sutton, 91, formerly of Flandreau, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at her home in Sioux Falls. She was born October 2, 1923 at Rockford, IL to Sterling Young and Edith (Berlin) Parr. Lois grew up in Redwing and Minneapolis, MN graduating from Central High School. She proudly served her country enlisting in the WAVES during WWII. Lois married Emmett Sutton in Minneapolis on August 31, 1946 and moved to a farm by Flandreau, SD. In 1950 they purchased their own farm in Clare Township and continued to live there until 2004 when they sold the farm and moved to Sioux Falls. Her husband preceded her on December 7, 2006. Lois was a member of St. Michael Parish, former member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Flandreau, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters. Lois was a gifted seamstress and very artistic with her hands making many beautiful creations to give to friends and family. She enjoyed playing games and organized many events.

Lois is survived by seven children, Tom (Maggie), Sioux Falls, Marijane (Frank) Fulwider, Gregory, SD, Judy (Mike) Kirby, Sioux Falls, Jeff (Coleen), Anchorage, AK, Kathleen (John) Callahan, Poplar Grove, IL, Michael (Rhonda), Sioux Falls, Tamara (Nathan) Johnson, Hamler, OH; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Patricia Sutton, Flandreau and several nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, four infant children, two sons, James and Robert, her parents and grandparents, sister Marijane Selb, brother Kenneth Parr, sister-in-law Ingrid Parr, two brothers-in-law, Jim Selb, Duane Sutton and an infant granddaughter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at St. Michael Parish, Sioux Falls, with burial in Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesday with a 7:00 pm liturgical wake service at St. Michael Parish.
