Lisa Marga (Boehm) Cummings, 87, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at Riverview Health Services, Flandreau, SD. Lisa was born August 17, 1927 in Kassel, Germany to Paul and Hilda (Eckard) Boehm, the fourth of five siblings. She received her education in Kassel and Wuppertal. In 1937 the family moved to Wuppertal-Elberfeld. At the age of 14 years Lisa was recruited to work in farm country, due to the fact that the male population was drafted into the German armed forces. In 1943 she was able to rejoin her family to help her Dad and older sister in rebuilding their home and store which were destroyed in an air raid. Lisa worked in the store along with the rest of the family. In later years, Lisa married Louis H. Cummings. Her husband, being in the army, was stationed in a lot of different places and they enjoyed a lot of traveling in the U.S. and Europe. After losing her husband, Lisa lived for some time in Flandreau, and then moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ where she lived for 35 years. She then came back to Flandreau due to health problems.
Lisa is survived by one sister Dolly Boehm Hales (Harlan), three nephews, Ernest Bachmann (Regina), Germany, Paul (Shelly) Hales and Homer Hales, one niece Annemarie Metz Kailing (Peter), Germany, five great-nephews, Alexander and Oliver Metz, Germany, Martin and Tomas Bachmann, Germany, and Branden Hales, Kentucky.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Union Cemetery, Flandreau.
