Lillian E. Scriven, 98, of Milton, FL formerly of Colman, SD died Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Berryhill Manor Retirement Center, Milton, FL. Lillian was born July 24, 1913 at Eureka, SD to Fred and Kate (Moser) Balliet. She was the youngest of four children and grew up near Java, SD where her parents farmed. She graduated from Plainview Academy in Redfield, SD in 1932 where she met John Scriven. Lillian went to Chamberlain, SD to take nurse's training, but became ill. After she recovered she went to Aberdeen College and took a secretarial course. She then went to Lodi, CA where her parents were and worked in a doctor's office. In December of 1937 John Scriven went to California for a visit and on January 18, 1938 they were married. They honeymooned on the way back to SD, stopping to see some of John's brothers and sisters. They farmed near Colman, SD until retiring in the winter of 1977. During that time they had two daughters, Phyllis Marie and Virginia (Ginger) Mae. They remained on the farm until moving to Spokane, WA in 2001 to live with their daughter, Ginger. John and Lillian were married 65 years. John passed away on March 29, 2003. For the last several years Lillian has been in Florida with her daughter, Phyllis. Most recently she has been at Berrryhill Manor Retirement Center. Lillian was a member of the University Parkway Seventh Day Adventist Church, Pensacola, FL

Lillian is survived by 2 daughters: Phyllis (Erick) Rosin, Milton, FL, Virginia "Ginger" (Bob) Blount, Ione, WA; 6 step-grandchildren , 17 step-great grandchildren, 10 step-great-great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Husband, parent, 2 sisters and 1 brother.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Colman Cemetery, Colman, SD. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-3 PM at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman.
