Lila J. DeLay, 78, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Riverview Healthcare Community, Flandreau, SD. She was born April 9, 1937 in Pipestone, MN to Melvin and Lois (Smith) Eikmeier. She attended school in Pipestone and graduated from Pipestone High School. Lila married Charles DeLay on February 4, 1958 in Washington, D.C. She planted trees for Soil Conservation, worked at the Moody County Resource Center and the Flandreau Police Station. Lila was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and Ladies Aid. She enjoyed crocheting, making latch hook rugs, quilting for the church, and putting puzzles together.
Lila is survived by her daughter Suzanne (Steve) Ricottilli, Flandreau, granddaughter Rachel (Paul) Hansen, Brookings, two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Emilie, grandson Ben Ricottilli, Phoenix, AZ, sister Doris (Stu), and brother Edward. Lila was preceded in death by her husband Charles (January 4, 2005), parents and sister Pearl.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Salem United Methodist Church, rural Pipestone, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 5 – 7 p.m. Monday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
