Obituary

Leslie James Schrecengost, 81, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013. Les was born on February 12, 1932, to Leslie Lawson and Alice (Hill) Schrecengost in Yatesboro, PA. He attended school in Rural Valley, PA. Les married Ruby Kough on March 3, 1951 at Dayton, PA. In 1953 he joined the army, after his discharge they farmed in Dayton County, Pennsylvania. Les and Ruby moved to South Dakota in 1960 where they farmed near Garretson. In 1963 they moved to a farm east of Baltic and in 1965 to a farm near Trent. In 1976 they moved to Spring Creek Township north of Flandreau where Les has continued to farm. Les drove school bus for several years, starting at Fuller Buses and later he retired from Harlow Bus Company. Les also showed Hereford Hogs for 50 years.

Les is survived by his wife Ruby, two children, Cindy (Jim) Meisenheimer, Elkton, Marlin (Deb) Schrecengost, Flandreau; four grandchildren, Jenn, Peggy, Jeremy and Jessica; eight great-grandchildren, Michaela, Morgan, Kaylee, Justin, Claire, Henry, Sophia and Christian; three sisters, Dorothy Peterman, Louisville, OH, Donna (Paul) Boldt, Canton, OH, Gail VanHorn, Dayton, PA and one brother, Larry (Sharon) Schrecengost, Jacksonville, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, December 13, 2013 at Skroch Funeral Chapel with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday at the funeral chapel.
