Leslie "Les" Meyer, 58, of Flandreau passed away as a result of an accident on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Leslie Leland Meyer was born April 17, 1951 to Marvin and Leone (Johnson) Meyer in Pipestone, MN. He was raised on farms in Pipestone County and graduated from Verdi High School in 1969. He attended auto mechanic class at Pipestone Vocational School and graduated in 1970. He ran a gas station and repair shop in Ward for a short time. Les married Gail Catherine Evans on March 23, 1974 at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Pipestone. They have lived on an acreage east of Flandreau for 27 years. Les had various jobs over the years and for the last 12 years was a maintenance man for the Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Flandreau. Les was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church.
Les is survived by his wife, Gail, Flandreau; mother, Leone Meyer, Pipestone; brother, Dean (Barb) Meyer, Pipestone; sisters, Gayle (Bill) Gorilla, Minneapolis, MN, Valerie (Don) Holthus, Andover, MN; mother-in-law, Shirley Evans, Pipestone, MN; many nieces, nephews; great-nieces and nephews and friend, Paul Schramm. Les is preceded in death by his father, Marvin Meyer; father-in-law, Vincent Evans and sister-in-law, Joan McLaughlin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Flandreau with burial in St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery, Pipestone, MN. Visitation will begin Tuesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau at 2:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.
