Obituary

Leslie F. Johnson, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 19, 2010. Les was born September 11, 1926 in Wausa, NE to Nels and Hazel (Skelberg) Johnson. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Hartington High School in Hartington, NE. Les was drafted into the Army on December 14, 1950 and transferred to the Army Reserve on December 9, 1952. He was Honorably Discharged on April 4, 1957. Leslie's uncle informed him there was a real nice girl up here attending First Church of God, named Darlene Hobbie. They started writing each other until postage got "too high." Les decided it was "cheaper to drive up to meet her." They courted a short while and were married on March 29, 1961. From their marriage they were blessed with 3 boys, Lowell, Delwin and Eugene. Together they farmed from 1961 until his health forced him to retire in 2007. After he retired he still continued to give "advice" on the farm. Darlene preceded him in death on January 9, 2010.

Les is survived by 3 sons, Lowell Johnson, Flandreau, Delwin (Kari) Johnson and their children, Brock, Emily and Micke'L, Sioux Falls, Eugene (Chris) Johson and their children, Chandler, Austin and Brady, Flandreau and one brother, Rodger (Mary) Johnson, Yankton. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlene; parents; a sister, Irene and a brother, Neville.

Funeral service will be Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM on Tuesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
