Lawrence H. Doyle, 79, died Wednesday at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. He was born July 18, 1928 in Moody County, SD to Joe and Katie (Haase) Doyle and was educated in Bell School and Egan High School. Lawrence married Dorothy Drewes on July 2, 1947 in Flandreau. He drove truck for LeRoy Julson and then started farming in 1950. He farmed until ill health forced him to retire in 1983. Then he did renovation work at the Crystal Theatre and Japanese Gardens. He was a resident at Riverview Manor for nine years. Lawrence was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church and NFO. He enjoyed fishing, carpentry work and his grandchildren.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one daughter, Darlene (Dick) Heinricy, Colman; three sons, Doug (Norene), Elkton, Gordon, Madison and Mark, Flandreau; nine grandchildren, Aaron, Shane, Paula, Todd, Dan, Kerri, Chris, Shanna, and Chris; 12 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Rose Holvig, Kenneth Doyle and Lorraine (Harry) Reaves, all of Flandreau, and Madonna (Ed) Rieder, Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ervin, Donald and Harold.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 am Saturday at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation begins at 2:00 pm Friday with the family present from 5 – 7 pm at Skroch Funeral Chapel followed by a 7:00 pm Scripture Service.
