LaVonne M. Johnson, 71, passed away Saturday, September 10th, 2016 at her home near Renner, SD. LaVonne was born October 30, 1944 in Flandreau, SD to Milton and Alice (Gothier) Olson. She started school in Trent, SD and graduated from Egan High School in 1962. LaVonne married Craig Johnson in Flandreau, SD on November 12, 1963 and they lived in Denver, CO while he was in the service. They moved to Madison, SD after Craig's discharge while he attended college. She worked for the school district in Oldham and also in Scotland when they moved there. LaVonne worked for the Department of Labor when they moved to Pierre, SD and also when they moved to Spearfish. In 2009 they moved to Renner after retiring. LaVonne enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and daughters. She also loved heading in to town with Craig to run errands and grab lunch. Two of her favorite activities included dispensing advice and traveling with her group of friends known as the SD Retail Therapists. She loved to be with her family and her friends and taking care of all of them.


LaVonne is survived by her husband Craig, two daughters, Lisa (Brian) Bondy, Pierre, SD and Traci (Todd) Arens, Stillwater, MN; 5 grandchildren, Christopher, Anna, Gunner, Cooper and Joe; brother Bruce (Joyce) Olson, Lennox, SD; and sister-in-law Dottie Johnson, Volga, SD. LaVonne was preceded in death by her granddaughter Katie, parents, three siblings, Gary, Karen and Kevin and brother-in-law Doug.


A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Meadow Barn at Country Orchards, 1690 Willow St. West, Harrisburg, SD, 57032.
