Obituary

Larry Lovejoy, 75, of Flandreau, SD, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Avera Prince of Peace in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau, SD. The family will be present for visitation one hour prior to the funeral service.

Larry was born on Thursday, March 17, 1949 to Forrest and Della (Sutton) Lovejoy in Flandreau, SD. He grew up and received his education in Flandreau and was a graduate of Flandreau Indian School.

He held several jobs throughout his life; however, he spent many years working at Royal River Casino as an Entertainment Director. He had a love for the sport of boxing, being a golden gloves boxer. He would also go on to coach in the sport, training and traveling for boxing tournaments.

His horses Snoop and Lady Diana were his babies; Snoop was passed down to him from his father, Forrest. He spent many great years with his horses and taught his children and other family members to ride. He was a jack of all trades and loved the rodeo.  Larry was considered to be a Cassanova with a great sense of humor.

He was a stubborn and caring father, grandfather, and uncle.

Survivors include his children, Tara, Sharon, and Shannon; grandchildren: Nathan, Keith, and Kylie; siblings: Jackie, Tammy, Barb and Ardetta; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Della; his siblings: Charlotte, Sharon, Gary, Diana, and Sue; and one child, Sheila.

Please join the family for a meal at Eastman Hall immediately following the burial at First Presbyterian Cemetery, Flandreau, SD.
