Larry W. Anderson, 67, of Ward, SD, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Brookings Health System, Brookings, SD. He was born December 22, 1948 in Flandreau, SD to Edwin and Carrie (Christman) Anderson, the youngest of four boys. In 1956, LaVerne and LeRoy both moved to Chicago, IL after graduating from high school. In 1961, Leon followed his brothers after graduation to Chicago where they began their careers. It wasn't until 1966 when Edwin, Carrie and Larry moved to Chicago, where Larry graduated from Forest View High School in Arlington Heights. While in Chicago, Larry started his career after high school painting and hanging wallpaper. He also played lead guitar in a few local bands. During this time, he married Christine Thomas and welcomed 3 boys, Chad, Clint, and Cam. In March of 1985, Larry moved back to the family farm in Ward, SD with Clint and Cam. After moving back, Larry started farming and also continued to paint and hang wallpaper on the side. He also enjoyed playing darts for many years. He was united in marriage to Debra Hallquist in 1993. In June of 1995, they welcomed their son, Cyler E. Anderson. In August of 1995, Larry adopted Donica and Danine. In 2001, he started working at Twin City Fan in Elkton up until his passing. Larry enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time with his family and friends. Something he held dear to his heart was the annual 4th of July gatherings at his farm with all his family and friends.
Larry is survived by his children: Chad (Greg Johnson) Anderson, Clint (Melissa) Anderson, Cam (Heather) Anderson, Donica (Andrew) Thronson, Danine (Nick) Jacobson, Cyler Anderson; 10 grandchildren, his brothers: LeRoy Anderson of Ward, Leon (Bobbie) Anderson of McHenry IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, and one brother, LaVerne Anderson.
Celebration of Life will be Sunday, July 3, 2016 beginning at 1:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 5:00 p.m. at Larry's farm, 22680 486th Ave., Ward, SD.
