Lana Jo "Susie" Smith, 61, of Flandreau, SD passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls. Susie was born in DeSoto, TX on December 29, 1959 to Sonny and Eunice (Gomes) Prince. She stayed in the DeSoto area, enjoying amazing vacations to Hawaii with her cousin, Jane. In 1980, she met her life partner, Dave Smith. The Smith Family left Texas in 1999, planting new roots in Flandreau. Susie worked for some time at the Flandreau Bakery and did cleaning at offices before taking on the role of housewife. She spent her days doting on her grandsons, Connor and Asa, working magic with coupons, and tinkering on her DIY projects. Susie was a country girl through and through and will be remembered for her own brand of Southern charm. She loved animals, especially her dogs, and didn't mind getting her hands dirty.

Susie is survived by her husband and partner-in-crime of 40 years, Dave Smith; daughter, Christina Schmidt (David Ramos), Flandreau; her son, Chad (Maria) Davis, Texas; two grandchildren: Connor David Schmidt, Flandreau; and Asa Justin Davis, Texas; cousin, Jane Fatherree; and son-in-law, Danny Schmidt. Susie is also survived by: Mark Huse, Mitchell (Dotsy) Smith, Tina (Tim) Bellot, Russell (Lisa) Smith, Phyllis Bothel (Derrick Bose), Dora York (Kelly Herndon), Francis Smith, Susan Lowe, Lannie Self (Clint Burbank), Dwayne (Tabitha) Smith, and Mike Akers; as well as many other nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sonny and Eunice Prince, her brother, Lester Wayne "Bubba" Parish; mother-in-law, Stella Mensche; siblings-in-law: Buddy Bothel, Angelina Self, Carlos Bothel, Bobby York, and William Smith; two grandchildren: Joshua and Dylan Davis; and her loving dog, Fancy.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, with a visitation beginning one hour prior. Livestream will be available on Susie's obituary page at www.skrochfc.com .
