Kristene V. Halsne, 54, of Ruthton, MN, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the Avera Tyler Hospital, Tyler, MN. Kristene Viann (Hammer) Halsne was born at Flandreau, SD on January 3, 1968 to Norman and Marion (Moen) Hammer.  She was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Messiah Lutheran Church south of Flandreau, SD and later confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Flandreau.  Kris attended school in Flandreau where she graduated in 1986.  She was raised on a farm west of Flandreau with her brothers, Brian and Bradley.

Kris met the love of her life, Dale Halsne, at the Showboat in Lake Benton, MN, and were later married on June 13, 1987 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Flandreau.  To this union a daughter was born.  Megan (Halsne) Obr was born on October 13, 1988.  They lived in Colman, SD for the beginning of their marriage and then moved to Minnesota where they raised their daughter and pursued their careers.  Kris was a Certified Nursing Assistant for most of her adult life at REM, Good Samaritan, and Tyler, MN nursing home.  Kris was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ruthton, MN.  She was an avid angel collector, was on the drill team in high school and was the BIGGEST fan of Jon Bon Jovi and followed the 80's  tribute band Hairball as a groupie.

Kris was a dedicated mother to Megan and an involved loving grandmother to her three grandchildren. Kris enjoyed camping and creating memories with her closest high school friends and sharing in her shenanigans with her special friends.

Kris is survived by her daughter Megan (Shawn) Obr, Yankton, SD; 3 grandchildren: Jakobi, Drayden, Ezlyn; parents, Norman and Marion Hammer; brother Brian (Tammie) Hammer all of Flandreau; father-in-law Bill Alderson, many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, son Justin Halsne, a baby grandchild, a brother Bradley Hammer, an infant sister Lynette Marie, maternal and paternal grandparents and mother-in-law Jean.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday, January 24, 2022 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau, with burial in the Holland Cemetery, Holland, MN. Visitation will be 2:00 – 4:00 pm Sunday with a 4:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
