IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kimberly Lynn
Jensen
November 18, 1984 – August 21, 2025
Kimberly Lynn Jensen, 40, of Tempe, Arizona, passed away peacefully with family by her side on August 21, 2025, at Hospice of the Valley. A celebration of Kim's life will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, rural Flandreau. Visitation will be Friday, September 12, from 4:00–7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, September 13, at 10:30 a.m.
Kimberly was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on November 18, 1984. She graduated from Flandreau High School in 2003. She went on to attend Stewart's School of Cosmetology, where she discovered her passion and love for hairstyling. After meeting Cody Fritz, they married and settled in Algona, Iowa, where Kim began her career with Aveda at Innovations Salon and Spa, working there from 2004–2010. A talented stylist, she built lasting relationships with her clients and colleagues.
After relocating back to South Dakota, Kim opened her own salon for two years before moving to Denver, Colorado, in 2014. She continued her work with Aveda, always looking for opportunities to learn and grow in her career. In 2024, Kim moved to Tempe, Arizona.
Kim loved her family deeply, especially her nieces and nephews, whom she enjoyed spoiling every chance she got. She had many friendships and could bring fun and laughter anywhere she went. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes, listening to music, and decorating any space. During her years in Colorado, she especially loved the mountain weather, going to Colorado Rockies games, and finding any chance she could to be outdoors. Thoughtful and full of life, she left an impression on everyone who knew her. Kim was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where her faith was an important part of her life.
Though Kim battled addiction in her years, she was so much more than her struggles. She was a daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend, a person who mattered and who will be dearly missed.
Kim is survived by her mother, Deon Jensen of Trent, SD; her sisters, Amy (Al) Austreim of Brookings, SD, and Jodi Jewett of Arizona; her cherished nieces and nephews, Ashton and Aidan Austreim, Reece and Carson Jewett; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Jensen; and her grandparents: Gordon and Alice Jensen, Art Duncan, and Grace and Holger Ausen.
