Obituary

Kevin Ohm, 60, died Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. He was born September 21, 1951 in Ortonville, MN to Albert and Jean (Ruby) Ohm. He graduated from Huron High School in 1969 and then attended SDSU in Brookings. Kevin married Mary Jane Molander in Huron in August 1973. He started his appliance career at Costains Appliance in Huron. Kevin moved with his family to Brookings and worked for Tyler TV & Appliance before he purchased the store, which then became Ohm's Appliance. Kevin married Dori VandeWeerd on June 12, 1999 at Lake Campbell Lutheran Church. He was a member of First Reformed Church, Volga, a former member of Lake Campbell Lutheran Church and was active in the Brookings business community. Kevin enjoyed woodworking, rock polishing, auctions, making jewelry, hunting and fishing, music, singing and playing with his two grandchildren.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Dori; six children, Amber (Tyler) Peper, Brookings, Adam Ohm, Sioux Falls, Amanda (Ben) Quam, Brookings, Alex (Maureen) Ohm, Sioux Falls, Justin (Michelle) VandeWeerd and James (Missy) VandeWeerd, both of Bruce; two grandchildren, Olivia Quam and Quinn Peper; one brother, Randy (Eileen) Ohm, Huron; family friend, Beth (Jim) Mongeon; one niece and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and Toby the dog.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, June 11, 2012 at First Reformed Church, Volga, with burial in Lake Campbell Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00-6:00 pm Sunday at the church. Memorials to Teen Challenge in Brookings.
