Joyce E. Pedersen, 84, passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 at Riverview Healthcare Community, Flandreau, SD. Joyce Elaine Pedersen, was born October 25, 1930 at Colman, SD to Karl and Marie (Nelsen) Pedersen. She received her education in Moody County country schools and in the Colman Public School graduating from Colman High School in 1948. In preparation for her chosen career of teaching, she attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls graduating with her four year degree in 1959. Joyce taught in Chester Public School, Flandreau Public School, Jasper Public School in Minnesota and Brookings Public School, retiring in 1992. Joyce was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a life-long member of Colman Lutheran Church. For many years she served as organist at the Colman church and was active in WELCA, Miriam Circle, and other areas of church service.

Joyce is survived by two nieces, Nola Jarvis, Dresden, OH and Karen Wilkerson, LaMirada, CA; two great-nieces and four great-nephews; and eight great-great-nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Carol (Ebdrup) Wishon and one brother Floyd Pedersen.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, October 5, 2015 at Colman Lutheran Church with burial in Colman Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman. Donations to the Colman Volunteer Fire Department or Colman Lutheran Church.
