Joseph Dechiro, 89, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Avera Flandreau Hospital. He was born August 5, 1926 at Bryan, TX to Charlie and Sarah (Ribardo) Dechiro. He received his education in Texas and worked several jobs there. Joseph married Dorothy Carney on February 12, 1983 at Austin, TX. He worked at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin as a civilian woodworker and supervisor for 33 years. Joseph retired in 1987 and they moved to Flandreau, SD in July 2007. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Joseph is survived by his wife Dorothy, eight children, Dean (Julie) Dechiro, Whitehouse, TX, Gerard (Evelyn) Dechiro, Spring, TX, Teresa Dechiro, Whitehouse, TX, Bill Baker, Red Rock, TX, Doug (Eula) Baker, Longview, TX, Mark Baker, Flandreau, SD, Steve (Angela) Carney, Farmington, AR, Jim (Marva) Carney, Warrensburg, MO, 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one sister Josephine McLaughlin, Ft. Worth, TX. Joseph was preceded in death by his son Mitchael, parents, two sisters, Stella and Marie, and two brothers, Charlie and Tony.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 16, 2015 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation begins at 12:00 Noon on Monday at the funeral chapel.
