John E. Fargen, 83, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the Veteran's Home in Grand Island, NE. John was born to Eugene and Laura (Bruelport) Fargen on September 17, 1926 in Flandreau, SD. He attended Bell Country School and Egan High School. John started farming and then entered into the US Army and was honorably discharged on August 20, 1956. He worked for the Salvation Army and Goodwill Industries in Sioux City, IA and Lincoln, NE. John was a member of the Catholic faith.

John is survived by his aunt, Adele Fargen, Pierre and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Albert and Robert.


Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, December 7, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Flandreau with burial in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 PM Sunday at Skroch Funeral Chapel with a Rosary at 4:00 PM.
