John A. Bjerke, 51, died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at his home in Flandreau. John was born on December 31, 1959 at Hendricks, MN to Arvin and Ann (Kaiser) Bjerke. He was educated at Toronto and White, SD. He moved to Flandreau in 1977. John worked several years building grain bins for Bruce Allen and Donnie Stangeland. He enjoyed taking care of his fish, bead working and making dream catchers and medallions to give away to family and friends.

John is survived by a daughter, Rachel Bjerke, Lennox; 2 sisters, Jean Berg, Flandreau, Bev (Duane) Whaley both of Flandreau; 4 nieces and nephews; 2 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Arnold.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau with burial at Union Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM on Monday with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
