JoAnn C. Sundermeyer, 64, of Flandreau passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the Avera Flandreau Hospital. JoAnn was born April 15, 1951 at Flandreau, SD to Edward and Beatrice (Heminger) Hansen. She received her education in Flandreau. JoAnn married Jim Sundermeyer in Flandreau on February 20, 1968 and they lived in Flandreau. She worked at the Flandreau Indian School and in the Tribal Office for many years. JoAnn was with Gary Earley for many years until his death in 1992. She retired in 1995 and took care of Aunt Betty. JoAnn was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe, and served on the Tribal Council for four years. She enjoyed remodeling, gardening, arts and crafts, and cooking.

JoAnn is survived by eight children, Angela (John) Henderson, Jennifer Sundermeyer, Jeremy (Bonnie) Sundermeyer, Tim Sundermeyer, Jody Earley, all of Flandreau, Cindy Earley and family, Sioux Falls, Darcie McConnaughhay and family, Tulsa, OK, Eric Earley and family, Sioux Falls 10 grandchildren, Hunter, Mariah, Alexis (Antonio), Rhean, Lexi, Desteny, Charlotte, Jennifer, Tanner, Jacey, two great-grandchildren, Kiera, Gianna, her father Ed Hansen, Sr., and three siblings, Janet Johnson, Ed Hansen, Jr., and Wesley Hansen, all of Flandreau. JoAnn was preceded in death by her fiancé Gary, mother Beatrice "Peaches", and two sisters, Joyce and Judy.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church with burial in the church cemetery.
