Obituary

Joan Ann Sheridan began her journey to our lord on February 13, 2025, at Riverview Healthcare Center in Flandreau, SD. With her husband, the love her life, by her bedside.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30AM on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Flandreau, SD. The family will be present for visitation from 2:00PM to 4:00PM on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau, SD.

Joan was born on August 16, 1931, to Lucille (Marvlet) and Delbert W. Parsley in Moody County, South Dakota. She attended Tidd Country School up until 8th grade. Then going on to graduate from Flandreau High School in 1949.

On June 2, 1949, shortly after graduating, Joan was wed to her first husband John Robert Ullom. John and Joan were blessed with 11 children: 7 girls and 4 boys. The family farmed in northern Moody County. John passed away on June 6, 1978.

Joan had some struggles in her early adult life. Through the grace of God and with the help of Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) she was able to overcome those struggles. Joan went on to be the Trustee of West Central AA, representing Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Iowa. She held the Trustee title for roughly 5 years.

In 1980, while attending an AA meeting held in Flandreau, Joan met her second husband and true love Timothy Sheridan. The couple were united in marriage on November 27, 1982, at St Williams Catholic Church in Aurora, SD.

If not off on an adventure with Tim, Joan would be found at the farm with her family. Many weekend nights were spent at the dining room table with her adult children and their spouses. The room was never quiet as jokes and smart-witted comments were dealt out faster than the cards.

During her alone time Joan could be found reading a book, painting, sewing, or experimenting with a new craft. She was an avid bowler and golfer.

Her love of animals led the family to own numerous pets over the years. The most common being a black lab that would always bear the name Smokey.

Joan is survived by her husband Timothy Sheridan; her children Mary (Larry) Holland, Rock Rapids, IA; Linda Boerboom, Chanhassen, MN; Patricia (Dan) Mundahl, Brookings, SD; Eddy (Paula) Ullom, Madison, SD; Nancy (Mike) Harrington, Maple Grove, MN; Ruth Kneebone, Flandreau, SD; Robert Ullom, Aurora, SD; Peggy Kleinsasser, Mitchell, SD; Sandra Ullom, Brookings, SD; Bruce (Nikkia) Ullom, Madison, SD; Timothy (Kelly) Ullom, Flandreau, SD; her 33 grandchildren, 85 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Delbert and Lucille Parsley; her first husband, John Ullom; siblings and brother-in-law Katherine and John Wood and Phillip Parsley; sons-in-law, Bud Kneebone, Jake Kleinsasser, and Tom Boerboom; daughters-in-law, Kim Ullom and Diann Ullom; granddaughters, Jessica Boerboom and Lindsey Boerboom Voigt; and great-grandchildren Olivia Everett, Kinley Schmitz, and Christian Norris.
