Jimmy M. Pitsenberger, 67, of Flandreau, SD passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021, surrounded by his wife and sons at the Avera Flandreau Hospital. Jimmy was born September 29, 1954, in Joliet, IL to George and Phyllis (Taylor) Pitsenberger. Jim grew up with 2 brothers (Harold and Rodney) and 4 sisters (Tammy, Georgine, Sheila, and Karen) in Joliet. He attended school and started his career in Joliet. Jim met his wife Susan while attending Joliet West High. He started his career in hospitality at Syl's Restaurant and continued in hospitality owning a restaurant "G J's Palace" with his father. Jim followed an opportunity as a journeyman in energy that took the family from Texas to South Dakota. When not hard at work Jim enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Early in life he played baseball and softball. Then he coached and watched his boys develop in activities. Over the last 10 years Jim's overwhelming joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren, mowing lawn, watching sports, or sharing an ice cream. He also was very involved playing in local dart leagues and won a national tournament with his wife, son Larry, and daughter in law Stephanie.
Jim is survived by his wife Susan, Flandreau, SD; three children, Jimmy Jr. (Verity), Chino Hills, CA; Larry (Stephanie), Mound, MN; Wayne (Kelly), Flandreau; five grandchildren, Jimmy, Caleb, Julie, Wyatt, and Hayden Pitsenberger; two brothers, Rodney and Harold; two sisters, Tammy and Sheila; and two brothers-in-law, Bill and Dave. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Phyllis, sisters, Georgene and Karen, and brother-in-law Larry.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the Second Presbyterian Church, Flandreau, with burial in Union Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation is 5:00-7:00 pm Friday with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
