Jessie King, 85, died Tuesday at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Jessie was born Feb. 24, 1922 in White Earth, MN to Judd and Rachel (Fineday) Smith. She received her education in a mission school at White Earth and then moved to Minneapolis. Jessie married William Schuyler in Flandreau on December 20, 1945. She was a matron at the Flandreau Indian School and attended Haskell Institute in Lawrence, KS. She retired from FIS in 1962 and became a homemaker. Her husband preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1967. Then she married Richard Roso and he preceded her in death. Jessie married Raymond King on Sept. 7, 1991 in Flandreau and he preceded her on Feb. 1, 1996. She was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, VFW Auxiliary, and the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe. She liked to play bingo, to crochet, bowl, dance, and spend time at the casino. She liked to travel to Green Bay and Oneida. She loved life and was the life of parties. Jessie enjoyed her grandchildren, especially around the holidays. She is survived by 7 children: Judy (Bill) Koob, Madison, SD, William (Eileen) Schuyler, Flandreau, Janice (Paul) Bohling, Aberdeen, Luann Smith, Seabeck, WA, Betty (Roger) Hasvold, Flandreau, Sharon Smith, Bemidji, MN, Angie (Jake) Schuyler Jacobs, Marion, SD; 26 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, a son, Donald, a great-granddaughter, Michaela, her parents and 9 brothers. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Saturday at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation begins at 2:00 pm Friday with a 7:00 pm Scripture Service followed by a Catholic Daughter Rosary.
