Jane Alene Thomas, 80, passed away July 25, 2015 at Riverview Health Services, Flandreau, SD. Jane was born to Glen and Florence (Barns) Patrick on June 7, 1935. Jane was raised in Columbus, OH. She lived a very busy but healthy life being an only child. Jane became a Brownie through Girl Scouts, achieved up to a Sr. Scout but did not earn here Brownie Wings. Jane attended Ohio State University receiving a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. From there she worked at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, OH. Jane married Norman Thomas on February 16, 1959 in Dublin, OH. They had a great love of square dancing and farming. Jane and Norman made their home in Dublin, OH, until 1975 when they moved themselves and six children to Flandreau, SD. Jane was very active with her children in Girl Scouts and 4-H. After moving to Flandreau, Jane started working at the Flandreau Hospital. After many years at the hospital she retired. Then later in life she started working at the Royal River Casino. As a 4-H leader she was an extensive record keeper for all the 4-H kids not just her own. Even when they graduated she would still make sure that she knew how they were doing. Jane was a very Proud Alumni of Ohio State University and would donate to the nursing department every year. Jane was a dedicated Ohio State Buckeye Fan in all sports. GO BUCKS!!

Jane was a loving Mother to six children: Connie S. (Tony) Casperson, Dunlap IA, Terrie J. (Charles) Baesmann, Marysville, OH, Cristie G. Thomas, Flandreau, SD, Kellie L. (fiance Carl Brakke) Ziebarth, Elkton, SD, James P. Thomas, Flandreau, SD, and Jerrie L. Slagle, Riverton, WY. She was a loving Grandmother to eight grandchildren: Josh, Seth, and Luke Elder, John Baesmann, Bailey (Brock) Debaere, Cole Poss, MJ and Carter Ziebarth, and Auggie. Jane was preceded by her husband Norman (January 2, 2008), grandson Charles Baesmann II, and her parents.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, with burial in Clare Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
