Obituary

James Robert "JR" Iverson, 36, of Flandreau, passed away on March 11, 2024 at his home with Red and Shirley by his side.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Flandreau, SD. Family-present visitation will take place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 PM on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau, SD.

JR was born January 30, 1988 in Pipestone, MN. He grew up and received his education attending Flandreau Elementary School and then graduated from Children's Care Hospital and School in 2009.  He really loved his bus drivers and going to school. He also enjoyed participating in Mall Walks and Special Olympics. Other things JR enjoyed were driving his gator that Uncle Red bought him and his John Deere lawn mower.

He liked helping out and would do anything.  He would help get the lawn furniture out and put the chair on his head to carry it. He also helped out around the house taking care of the garbage, doing dishes, and straightening up his tapes and CDs. He enjoyed his computer, DVD player, country music, and hanging out in his cousin Bill's pickup.  He always wanted to drive it.

Other hobbies included shopping at Walmart.  He would go every weekend often to Pipestone or Brookings and would come home with new things. Many times when JR shopped he "conveniently" forgot his money.  At the checkout he would say, "Can you write a check please?"  He had a great sense of humor and was always a couple steps ahead of you.

JR was employed at Advance in Brookings for 11 years where he made many friends. He was baptized at Redeemer Lutheran Church February 2024.

Grateful for having shared his life are his aunt and uncle, Shirley and William Otto, Flandreau, SD; mother, Laurie Morrison, Garretson, SD; father, James Iverson, Flandreau, SD; cousins, Bill Otto, Dubuque, IA, Brian Otto, Flandreau, SD, Micah Otto, and Rylah Otto, both of Egan, SD; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Minnie and Don Iverson.
