James F. Petersen, Sr., age 65, died Monday, August 8, 2011 at his home in Flandreau. Jim was born on March 13, 1946 at Flandreau to Fritz and Eunice (Schroeder) Petersen. He graduated from Egan High School in 1964 and entered the Navy in November 15, 1965. Jim served as an E-4 Petty Officer during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged November 14, 1969. After returning home he farmed with his dad for 2 years and then on his own south of Flandreau for a few years. Jim worked for B&B Concrete for 25 years until he retired. Jim was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Luverne VFW.

Jim is survived by his wife, Judith, Flandreau; 4 children, Todd Kanz, Apache Junction, AZ, Tina (Tobin) Dailey, Flandreau, James Petersen, Flandreau, Jennifer (David) Knutson, Volga; 2 step-children, John Miller, Madison, WI, Sonja Miller, Oklahoma City, OK; 6 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and a sister, Joanne (Alvin) Griebel, Hatfield, MN. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Larry Petersen and Robert Petersen.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
