Jailyn Kae Cartwright, 13, daughter of JR and Tami Cartwright, lost her two year battle to cancer Monday, March 2, 2020 at their home in Bellevue, NE under hospice care. Jailyn was born on June 16, 2006 in Chandler, AZ to Arthur Robert, Jr. and Tami (Johnston) Cartwright. Because her dad is in the military, they moved six times and lived in five different states: Arizona, Iowa, Nebraska, North Carolina, Hawaii and then back to Nebraska two years ago with Flandreau, SD being the home base. Jailyn was currently an eighth grader and she loved going to school and being with her friends. She just wanted to be there, where everyone else was; to be a regular middle schooler. Jailyn had an artistic side; she liked to paint and to do make-up. She had SO much make-up and hoped to meet James Charles someday, the make-up artist that inspired her. Jailyn liked to watch You-Tube videos and follow influencers on Instagram. She liked to chat about all the latest trends and gossip. She loved going to South Dakota to go swimming at the lake and spending time with her cousins. Jailyn's four favorite things were volleyball, make-up, family and friends.

Jailyn is survived by her parents, JR and Tami; twin sisters, Zoey and Rylee, both at home; her dog Juliet and cat Diamond; grandparents, Art and Colleen Cartwright and Don and Joyce Johnston, all of Flandreau; great-grandmother Agnes Kampshoff, Salem, SD; eight aunts and uncles and nine cousins. She was preceded by an aunt Krystal Kae Johnston.

A Celebration of Life will be 7:00 pm Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, SD, with visitation beginning at 4:00 pm.
