Ida H. Rose, 85, died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at her home in Flandreau. Ida was born on October 13, 1923 at Windom, MN to Adolph and Grace (Seeden) Martens. She attended country school and then graduated from Windom High School in 1941. She married Lee Rose on February 22, 1944 in Windom. They owned a restaurant in Storden, MN and then moved to Windom where she was employed by Worthmore. Due to her husband's occupation as a brick layer they moved often. They lived in Rapid City for 13 years, Yankton for several years, and then moved to Flandreau in 1969 where they continued to make their home. Ida was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, LWML and the Flandreau VFW Auxiliary. Ida enjoyed her coffee, her flowers, reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
Ida is survived by her husband, Lee; 4 children: LaRae (Tom) Krakow, Flandreau; Mark, Flandreau; Danny (Helen), Flandreau; Todd (Sheila), Watertown, SD; 13 grandchildren: Nicolas, Brianna (Jamie), Brandon, Chelsey, Logan, Kahlab, Brant, Meghan, Alycia, Brice, Emily, Noah and Travis; 5 great-grandchildren: Dedric; Bradley, Owen, Brody and Camden; 2 step-grandchildren: Tracy and Jesse; 3 step great-grandchildren: Mason, Triston and Tyler and 1 sister, Ardele Menken, Cedar Rapids, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Haylee, a sister Darlene and a brother, Herman.
Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Pipestone, MN, with burial in Union Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation begins at 2:00 pm Tuesday with a 7:00 pm prayer service all at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau. Memorials to the American Cancer Society.
