Ida M. Millman, 87, died Monday, March 19, 2012 at her home in Flandreau. Ida was born April 24, 1924 at Flandreau, SD to Theodore and Marie (Ute) Fath. She grew up northwest of Flandreau in the Spring Creek Township. She attended Faris Country School #45 through the 8th grade. After attending school she moved into Flandreau and lived with the family of Dr. & Mrs. Fisk working as a housekeeper and later she was a cook at the Flandreau Hospital. Ida worked at Rolfe's Drug Store where she met her future husband. On February 5, 1947 she married Grayson R. Millman in Flandreau. Together they farmed in Lone Rock Township for many years. Ida and G.R. retired to the Flandreau City Park and later moved to their current home in Flandreau in the fall of 1997. After moving into town Ida worked at the Flandreau Pharmacy. G.R. preceded her in death on October 17, 1997. Ida enjoyed sewing, gardening and watching the birds. Ida was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, a church deacon, church circles and VFW Auxiliary.
Ida is survived by 2 children, Bruce Millman, Canistota, SD, Carolyn (Eugene Noble) Millman, Sioux Falls; 3 grandsons, James, Wayne, and Charles Millman; 6 great-grandchildren, Logan, Leah, Grayson, Levi, Luke and Mariah; 3 brothers-in-law, Randell Keating, Flandreau, Bill Millman, Flandreau and Tom Millman, Sidney, NE and several nieces and nephews. Ida is preceded in death by her husband; parents; 1 sister, Mary Keating and 2 brothers, Joe Fath and Clarence Fath.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 23, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Second Presbyterian Church with burial at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Skroch Funeral Chapel with a 7:00 PM prayer service. Memorials may be made to The Banquet or Sioux Falls Humane Society. www.skrochfc.com
