Hilda Eng, 98, formerly of Flandreau, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2015 at Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls. She was born in Moody County, SD on July 23, 1917 to Oscar and Gina (Paulson) Bjerke. Hilda attended Flandreau Public Schools and graduated from Flandreau High School in 1935. She married Merle Eng on June 18, 1939. She was a stay-at-home mom until her children were in school. Hilda then went to work for the ASCS office in Flandreau, retiring in 1979. Merle and Hilda moved to Sioux Falls and were members at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Her husband of 72 years preceded her in death on July 9, 2011.

Hilda is survived by son Russell (Karen) Eng, daughter Margaret (Denny) Soderberg, grandson Steve (Betti) Childs, granddaughter Kathy Childs, grandson Jon (Holly) Eng, grandson Chris (Sara) Eng, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, sister-in-law Marlys Berkland, brother-in-law Bill Millman, several nieces and nephews as well as others. She was preceded by her husband, daughter Marlys and son-in-law Jim Childs, parents, four brothers, and a sister.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau, with burial in Union Cemetery, Flandreau.
