Henrietta Van Dyke, 89, of Sioux Falls and formerly of Egan, SD, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society-Luther Manor in Sioux Falls, SD. Henrietta was born August 15, 1929 at Rock Valley, IA, to Evert and Fannie (Driesen) Brands. She attended rural schools in Iowa and Minnesota. After her education, she helped at home caring for her younger siblings. Then she worked for various families doing housework. Henrietta was united in marriage to Gerrit Van Dyke on January 26, 1950 at the Christian Reformed Church in Pipestone, MN. They lived in Sioux Falls as Gerrit worked at Morrell's Packing Co. In 1952 they moved to a farm at Egan, SD, until retirement in 1992. In the meantime, Henrietta worked 14 years at Riverview Manor in Flandreau. She came to know her Lord in the fall of 1960. Her husband preceded her in death November 27, 2009. She moved to Sioux Falls October 15, 2010. Henrietta was a member of the Reformed Church of Dell Rapids where she taught Sunday school. She enjoyed her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sewing, baking, crocheting and her flower gardens.

Henrietta is survived by four sons: Edwin (Becky Jo), Sioux Falls; Glen (Linda), Billings, MT; Lester (Nancy), Flandreau; Roger and special friend Angie Sutherland, Egan; two daughters: Marianne (Greg) Kramer, Flandreau; Karol (Terry) Haas, Gary, SD; daughter-in-law, Brenda (Randy) Bovill, Pueblo, CO; 35 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren; five brothers: John (Mary) Brands, Edgerton, MN; Edward (Marcene) Brands, Sioux Falls; Henry (Marlene) Brands, Zeeland, MI; Bernard (Sue) Brands, Beaver Creek, MN; Harold (Marilyn) Brands, Hadley, MN; and one sister Rolena (Harvey) Dooyema, Sumas, WA. Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband Gerrit; son Donald; great-granddaughter Braylee Jo; parents; two sisters, Frances and Lorraine; two brothers, James and Gerrit; and an infant sister and infant brother.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, August 5, 2019 at the Reformed Church of Dell Rapids with burial in the Logan Reformed Cemetery, Dell Rapids. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Sunday with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
