Obituary

Hazel O. Headrick, 99, died Sunday at Riverview Health Services in Flandreau. Hazel was born on August 11, 1913 at Memphis, MO to William and Laura (Howe) West. At the age of three she and her family moved to Saskatchewan, Canada where she received her education. Hazel married Harold Stimson in 1933 and they moved to Flandreau. Harold died November 25, 1962 and then she married Clifford Headrick on August 20, 1966 at Flandreau. Hazel worked as a farm wife and at the Flandreau City Office for 20 years. Clifford preceded her in death on February 28, 2003. Hazel was a longtime member of the Second Presbyterian Church and Eastern Star.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth (Dorothy) Stimson, Springfield MO; two stepsons, Kenneth (Dee) Headrick, Greeley, CO, Larry (Gail) Headrick, Brandon, SD, four stepdaughters, Rita (Richard) Burns, Flandreau, Betty Peper, Myrtle Point, OR, Beverly (Greg) Phelan, Castle Rock, CO, Denise (Randy) Snuttjer, Bennett, CO, 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, two sons, Richard and William Stimson, daughter, Joan Stimson, son-law Roger Peper, sister, Pauline Hill, brother, Roy West and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Second Presbyterian Church with burial in Union Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Skroch Funeral Chapel. Memorials to the Second Presbyterian Bell Tower Fund.
