Hayden Alan Hunter, 21, of Elkton, SD died Friday, December 30, 2022, in a rollover accident near his home. Hayden was born June 26, 2001, in Sioux Falls, SD to Randy and Kris (Pickard) Hunter of Elkton. He worked beside his Dad and Mom cooking at the Knotty Pine Supper Club. He enjoyed playing baseball and football, hunting deer, pheasant, duck, turkey, geese, and coyotes being a true "Hunter." Something he enjoyed was mentoring many younger friends from school and made sure they got their deer or pheasant before worrying about his limit. Hayden and his classmates were born during 9/11 and then graduated during the Covid Pandemic of 2020 so their motto was "they could conquer anything that came their way." Hayden graduated with a small celebration in June 2020. After graduation Hayden worked for Twin City Fan during the summer before attending Mitchell Tech for a 2 year Electrical Program. Hayden worked for Elkton Electric during the summer and school breaks while attending Mitchell Tech. After graduating with an electrical degree, he started his career with Hammond Electric. He was training a special companion, his yellow lab "Kimber," for pheasant hunting. Hayden enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends along with other outdoor activities and even experienced a bear hunting trip and fishing trip in Northern Minnesota. He enjoyed playing slow pitch with his brother Riley on a league out of Elkton. Hayden was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkton where he was baptized and confirmed.

Hayden is survived by his parents, Randy and Kris Hunter, Elkton; brother Riley, Elkton; grandparents, Quentin and Judy Pickard, Brookings; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Hayden was preceded in death by his grandparents, Virgil and Betty Hunter, and his cousin Josh Myers.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elkton, with burial in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is 4:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday at  the Elkton High School Gym.
