Gregg E. Nelson, 64, Flandreau, passed away Monday, September 23, 2019 at the Avera Dells Area Hospital, Dell Rapids, SD. Gregg was born August 15, 1955 in Pipestone, MN to Mickey and Bette (Johnson) Nelson. He received his education at Pipestone and Flandreau and then attended Pipestone Vocational School for meat cutting. Gregg worked at Howard Meat Packing, John Morrell, road construction for three years, and for 10 years at Royal River Casino as a black jack dealer until retiring because of a disability. As a young man he was a champion arm wrestler. Gregg enjoyed playing cards: poker, pinnacle, double decker, and smear all of his life. He loved music and was always ready to go to concerts and shows. Gregg enjoyed fishing, rock hunting, watching for UFO's and searching for Big Foot. He liked telling a good story, was a giver not a taker, and enjoyed his many friends.

Gregg is survived by his soul mate Laura, Flandreau; three children, Nicole (Lloyd Lange) Nelson and Skye Nelson, both of Flandreau; Meryl (Daren Stambach) Nelson, Bruce, SD; two granddaughters, Amber and Ashley Lange; three siblings, Gary (Susan) Nelson, Grand Marais, MN; Jeff Nelson, Pipestone, MN: Toni Taylor, Colman, SD, Shelley Nelson, Grand Junction, CO. Gregg was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Steve and Kevin and an infant sister Robin.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau. Visitation will be 5:00 -7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
