February 27, 2000 – December 17, 2025
Grace Frances Walker, 25, of Wentworth, SD, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 in Flandreau, SD. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Madison City Armory, 198 Van Eps Avenue N. Madison, SD.
Grace Frances Walker of Wentworth, SD was born February 27, 2000 at the Madison Regional Hospital in Madison, South Dakota.
Grace attended Madison Elementary School and graduated from Madison High School in 2018. She was in MHS choir all four years of school. Grace loved to sing and began singing in her crib. She aspired to become a professional singer one day. Anything to do with adventure, Grace was there. She went skydiving, whitewater rafting, hiking, and on a California adventure with her best friend, Livi. Grace was a prolific selfie taker and we are so glad to have those memories of her. She also loved to draw and play guitar. She had the most creative tattoos, some designed by her sister, Gwyneth
Grace spent most of her life in Madison, SD but also lived in Sioux Falls, SD and Rapid City, SD. She worked various jobs beginning at the Community Center in Madison, SD where she worked in the daycare program and as a lifeguard and water aerobics instructor. She worked at Global Polymer and most recently at Gehl/Manitou. Grace had a special connection with seniors and they loved her too. She worked as a CNA at various nursing homes in Rapid City. The true essence of Grace was her love of family and friends. She was always available to comfort a friend in need, spreading her light far and wide. Her smile and zest for life will be missed.
Grateful for having shared her life were her mom, Frances M. Walker and her dad, Gene P. Walker (deceased),Wentworth, SD; her sisters, Gwyneth Walker-Anderson (Eirik), Harrisburg, SD, and Fiona Stults, Sioux Falls, SD; her aunts and uncles, Shannon Walker , Justin Walker, Kathryn Murray, Sharon Welch (Warren), Denise Lentsch all of Sioux Falls, SD, Sheila Whittington, Sioux City, IA, Shirley Thoelke , (Van) Rapid City, SD , and Dessi Obrion, Belle Fourche, SD; and her cousins, Chase Walker (Makaley), Dalen Whittington, and Rowan Anderson. Grace was so excited to be auntie to her nieces, Lillian, Laneia and Etta. A special mention to Jessica Stults (Jayson) and Ed Obrion (Krista). She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Henry Lentsch.
All of our hopes and dreams, and hers, were brought to an untimely end in a car/pedestrian's accident on December 17, 2025 in Flandreau, South Dakota, leaving family and friends reeling in the wake of an unimaginable loss. She is now reunited with her father, whom she loved dearly, who was not only her dad, but also her closest confidante and best friend.
Shining One
And when I searched,
I looked up high
A star blazed overhead
A brief, immortal moment
Never to be seen again.
And just like you,
you burned too bright,
you tore across the sky,
we thought we had forever,
not this brief goodbye.
I love you Gracie, Mom xoxo
