Grace A. Strenge, 76, of Colman passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Riverview Manor, Flandreau surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Grace was born on August 27, 1932 to Harold and Gertrude (Lentz) Mullett near Chester, SD. She graduated from Rutland High School in 1950. Grace married Virgil Strenge on September 10, 1950 at Wellman Methodist Church, rural Colman,SD. She attended Southwestern Technical Institute in Pipestone, MN and received her diploma in Bakery-Deli in April of 1987. Grace worked for 19 years at the Brookings Hospital where she will always be remembered for her fabulous made from scratch bakery items. Her family will greatly miss her beautiful smile, enormous acts of kindness and her unconditional love for her family. Grace was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brookings.

Grace is survived by her husband, Virgil, Colman; 3 children, Verlyn (Merry), Clearbrook, MN, Virtus (Mary Jo), Colman, Vickie (Pat) Alschlager, Sioux Falls; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren with one on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Ivan and Harold; one sister, Lela and one special granddaughter, Valerie.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at First United Methodist Church, Brookings at 10:30 AM with burial at Union Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau on Tuesday with a prayer service at 6:00 PM.
