Obituary

Gerald D. "Bud" Nace, 86, of Colman died Tuesday, at the Royal C. Johnson Veteran's Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Gerald was born on a farm west of Colman on September 22, 1921 to James and Lily (Nelsen) Nace. He was educated in Colman graduating from Colman High School in 1939. He was married on February 15, 1940 at Pipestone, MN to Beverly Sayles. Bud entered the US Coast Guard for WWII on April 14, 1942 until Oct. 15, 1945. He returned to Colman where he worked as an electrician for Brende Electric, drove truck, and then started as a rural mail carrier in 1957 until retiring in 1983. Bud was a member of the Colman United Methodist Church, Colman American Legion, Colman Volunteer Fire Dept. (Chief), and the rural letter carriers association. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing pool, cards, hunting, fishing, wintering in Arizona, and especially watching his grandchildren participate in sports.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Beverly of Colman; children: Nancy (Kenny) VanRosendale, of Madison, SD; Linda (Bob) Baker, of Sioux Falls; Jim (Teri) Nace, of Sioux Falls; Andrea (Marc) VanVooren, of Colman; 9 grandchildren, Stephanie, Bob, J.B., Scott, Jason, Chad, Dan, Austin, Kaitlynn and 10 great-grandchildren: Madeline, Eliot, Robby, John, Abbey, Madyson, Jayna, Marcus, Aiden, Hayden. Gerald was preceded in death by daughter, Jill, his parents, his brother, Kenneth and a sister Verine.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2pm at Colman United Methodist Church with burial in the Colman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 pm at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman.
