Gary F. Hemmer, 31, died Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls. Gary was born August 18, 1980 at Dell Rapids, SD to Jerry and Bonnie (DeLay) Hemmer. He graduated from Colman-Egan High School in 1998 and worked at Hutchinson Technology in Sioux Falls. In the spring of 2000 he began trenching fiber optic lines for May Construction. Gary married Sarah Larson on September 2, 2010 in Flandreau, SD. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, NRA, Whitetails Unlimited and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, canning and gardening. Above all, Gary had a strong faith and loved his family very much.

Gary is survived by his wife, Sarah, four children, Ian, Ashleigh, Emma and Owen; parents Jerry and Bonnie Hemmer, Dell Rapids; one brother Scott (Andrea) Hemmer, Dell Rapids; two nieces, Anya and Quinn; father and mother-in-law, Mike and Carol Larson, Egan; sister-in-law LiAnne Larson, Long Beach, Ca; brother-in-law Rick Larson, Brookings; two godchildren, Anya Hemmer and Tell Miles and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Francis and Erma DeLay and George and Louise Hemmer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Monday, November 14, 2011 with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Egan. Visitation begins at 2:00 pm Sunday at St. Peter Catholic Church, Colman, with a 3:45 pm Catholic Daughter Rosary and 4:00 pm scripture service.
