Colman - Freddie H. Thrun, 79, died Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls. He was born August 27, 1930 at Rauville, SD to William and Barbara (Keifl) Thrun. He received his education at Codington County Country School and then he worked for a flax straw company. Freddie was married to Viola Woodbury on January 3, 1954 in Watertown, SD. They moved to Colman in 1958 and he worked as a farmhand for Bob Dunlap. He then became Police Chief and head of city maintenance in Colman in 1960. Then he worked at T & R Electric as a crane operator for 20 plus years until retiring. His wife preceded him in death on November 30, 1992. He then operated a road maintainer until returning to T & R Electric as a night security guard.

Freddie is survived by a son, Steve (Retha) Thrun, Madison; two daughters, Kathy (Jack Barnhart) Thrun, Madison, Sherrie Johnson, Flandreau; 6 grandchildren: Mark, Amy, Jesse, Teri, Tasha, Kyle; 8 great-grandchildren: Coree, Sierrah, Liam, Blake, Kiana, Caden, Hunter and Eli; a sister-in-law, Edith Thrun, and a brother-in-law, Fred Walsh, both of Watertown, SD. He was preceded in death his wife, Viola, a grandson, Steven Thrun, Jr., his parents, six sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Colman Lutheran Church with burial at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Rauville, SD. Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 pm Tuesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman.
