Fred H. Duin, 91 died Monday, July 26, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Pierre, SD. He was born January 17, 1919 at Bushnell, SD to Hyko and Meta (Oppelt) Duin. He received his education in Moody County country schools. Fred was married to Verlaine West on March 23, 1944 at Estelline, SD. He served in the US Army from 1942 to 1944 and was stationed at Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Fred did many things during his life. He was a farmer, restaurant owner, city employee, school bus driver, beer delivery man and an avid Minnesota Twins fan. But the best thing he did was be a great father and wonderful grandfather and great-grandfather.

Fred is survived by six children: Sandra McAdams, Deltona, FL, Marilyn (Tom) Hurney, Rogers, MN, Darlene (Darrel) Reinke, Ft. Pierre, SD, Sharon Harrison, Maple Grove, MN, Douglas (Shelly) Duin, Cummings, GA, Tammi Anderson, El Mirage, AZ. Also enjoying his life were 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and a sister Laura Earl, Osakis, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Timothy McAdams, one brother, Melvin Duin and five sisters, Margaret Hegerfeld, Heneritta Hegerfeld, Kate Fuhr, Mable Klitzke and Wilma Meyer.

Funeral services will be 10:30 Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Elkton, with burial in the Elkton City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday at the Chapel.
