Flora Nelson, 93, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Terrace Manor in Dell Rapids. Flora was born August 18, 1917 at Amboy, IL to Roy and Corra (Symes) Starks. She moved with her family to Hartford, SD as a young child and graduated from Hartford High School. She worked for her brother, Raymond in a restaurant in Sioux Falls. Flora married Silas Nelson on December 9, 1941 at Pipestone, MN. They farmed near Trent and moved to a farm north of Colman until 1955 when they moved to a farm south of Colman. They retired the fall of 1979 and moved into Colman where they made their home. Silas preceded in death on January 16, 1991. Flora moved into an apartment in 2006. She loved to embroidery, baking, birds, flowers, particularly red roses. Flora enjoyed her family and friends and always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. She was a member of Colman Lutheran Church, Miriam Circle and WELCA.

Flora is survived by 2 daughters, Jeanne (Jerry) Mrotek, Brighton, CO; Vicky Nelson, Lakewood, CO; 2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 1 sister, Alta Koball, Sioux Falls. She is preceded in death by her husband, Silas Nelson; 1 grandson, Troy; her parents; 3 brothers, Norville, Charles and Raymond; and 3 sisters, Myrta, Ethel and Alice.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Colman Lutheran Church with burial at Colman Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman.
