Everett Giles Milne, 94 of Flandreau, SD, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2019 at his farm home. Everett was born on February 10, 1925 to Charles and Bertha (Paulsen) Milne on a farm NE of Flandreau. He attended Vance School then at the age of 10 he moved with his parents and sister to a farm NW of Flandreau and attended Stagelman School. Everett graduated from Flandreau High School in 1943. He farmed with his father until enlisting in the Navy in January of 1951 where he was a gunner's mate on the aircraft carrier USS Philippine Sea. After his discharge on May 4, 1954, he returned to the family farm. Everett married Jean Nicoll on April 25, 1959 in Chicago and they spent their married life on the farm raising their 3 children. Everett loved music and he played piano, guitar or mouth harp for the little ones in the family. Everett was a lifetime member of Second Presbyterian Church where he was an elder and trustee, member of the Flandreau American Legion and VFW, and was a member of the Military Honor Guard for many years.
Everett is survived by his wife Jean; one daughter Margaret Harden, Phoenix, AZ; 2 sons, James and William, Flandreau; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister Gladys Wilding, College Station, TX and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law Dr. Larry Wilding.
Private funeral services will be held with burial in Union Cemetery, Flandreau.
